Scholastic Book Fair - Save the Date!

Mark your calendars! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! Our school’s Scholastic Book Fair will take place the week of June 3rd to June 7th, 2024. 

We will also be OPEN during our upcoming evening events, Discover Kindergarten  on May 30th and the Community Celebration on June 5th!

Your investment in your reader helps our whole school. All purchases earn Scholastic Dollars that can be redeemed for books and educational resources for our school’s classrooms and library.

K-2 Winter Wonderland Family Dance (December 18)

Attention Kindergarten to Grade 2 families! We are hosting a Winter Wonderland Community Dance on Monday, December 18th from 5pm - 6pm in our school gymnasium.

It's $5/family on SchoolCash Online or at the door. 

Please note: Families must accompany their children to the dance. Students will not be permitted in the dance without a family member present.

 

Mabel's Labels for the Holiday

When the school breaks for the holiday, we will be donating all of the lost and found items to a local charity. Please ask your children to look for any lost items before they leave on December 22nd. To help reduce items in the lost and found, please consider labelling all clothing items and other school products. Feel free to use a sharpie marker or consider Mabel's Labels.

If you’re not familiar with Mabel’s Labels, they are personalized, durable, waterproof labels. They are great for everything from shoes, clothing tags, waterbottles and backpacks. You can customize them with your name and a design, and they are dishwasher, laundry and microwave safe.

Mabel's Labels also offers clothing stamps, silicone bands for water bottles and medical alert labels. This is a great way to ensure your items don't end up in the lost and found or mixed up.

Treat Cards

The first week of our Treat Card program went very well! 

If you haven't ordered your Treat Card yet, please make sure to order it on SchoolCash Online by Monday night in order to use it on Tuesday when the trolley comes around to classes. 

Students who order a new card after the deadline each week will receive their card in time for the following week's Treat Trolley.

The AGPS Student Council will begin selling treats next week! 

If your child wants to purchase a treat, they will need to have a Treat Card.

Treat Cards cost $10 and they can be purchased on SchoolCash Online as of today!

Each treat is valued at $2 so students will be able to purchase a total of 5 treats with their card.

The cards will be kept at school with homeroom teachers.  

Parents can order more Treat Cards as needed on SchoolCash Online.

Proceeds from the Treat Card program will help subsidize grade 8 graduation.

NEW! AGPS Treat Card

New this year, instead of students bringing in money each week to purchase treats, we are asking families to purchase a Treat Card ahead of time on SchoolCash Online. 

The card is $10 and can be put toward a total of 5 treats. Each week, we will hand out the cards to the students who have purcahsed one. They will be kept at school with their homeroom teacher. When they have finished with their card, parents can order a new one. 

Please note: The school is not responsible for lost cards and they will not be replaced. Students are asked to leave their card with their homeroom teacher so it is not lost. 

Cards will be on sale as of Friday, November 24th on SchoolCash Online. However, we will be selling them at Family Movie Night if you want to purchase it ahead of time!

All funds raised from Movie Night will go toward bringing engaging and innovative learning experiences to our school. Student Council is organizing the Treat Cards and funds raised will be put toward subsidizing grade 8 graduation.

Fall Dance!

Aurora Grove PS will be having a Fall Dance on October 31st! 

Students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 will have the choice to participate in the dance at different times throughout the day. 

• Grades 1 to 6 will each have one period before lunch for the dance.
• The cost for grades 1-6 is $2
• Grades 7 and 8 will have two periods after lunch for the dance.
• The cost for grades 7 & 8 is $4
• Kindergarten classes will attend for free. 

Students can bring in their money to their teachers starting tomorrow. 

Lost & Found? Mabel's Labels To The Rescue!

We all know how frustrating it can be when children come home missing a water bottle, a glove, a hat, a sweatshirt, a jacket, and more!

We encourage families to label all clothing items as well as water bottles and lunch boxes. 

Aurora Grove PS has partnered with Mabel's Labels. Visit the Support A Fundraiser page on their website, search for Aurora Grove Public School, and a portion of the proceeds from any labels purchased are returned to the school. 

Although Mabel's Labels look great and they are easy to use, a simple Sharpie marker works just as well! Whatever you choose to use, a label on clothing and items means they are more likely to be returned if lost.

4. Order your labels.

Scholastic Book Fair Oct 2-6

This week our library will be running a Scholastic Book Fair. Excitement has been growing as students have been coming to the library to see what books and other fun things the book fair has to offer.

The Scholastic Book Fair is a chance for our community to come together to celebrate not only the joy of reading, but also the joy of giving back. Money raised from the Book Fair allows us to purchase new books and materials for all of our students to enjoy.

The Fair will be open all week for students to visit and purchase during recess and lunch.  We will be having a Sneak Peek after school on Monday, October 2nd from 3:30-5:00.  The Fair will also be open from 3:30 onward on Community Night (Wednesday, October 4th).

The AGPS Lunch Program is Back!

Thank you for your patience as we ironed out all the details for this year’s lunch program. It’s back and it’s better than ever.

You asked and we heard you! 

Last year we heard from community members that there is a desire for more variety in the types of lunches offered and that we add in additional days of the week.

We are piloting a 5-day a week lunch program throughout October and November. A portion of the proceeds from the lunch program will go back to the school to support field trips, school events, guest speakers, and more.

Mondays: Teriyaki Chicken & Rice or Teriyaki Tofu & Rice from Kookjae Sushi

Tuesdays: Pizza from Toppers Pizza

Wednesdays: Maki Rolls from Kookjae Sushi

Thursdays: Pizza from Toppers Pizza

Fridays: Subs from Subway

Ice Dawgs Are Back!

Starting Thursday, May 25th, students can purchase chocolate chip cookie and vanilla ice cream sandwiches for $2.00. Don't miss out on this refreshing treat as the days get warmer!

Student reps will visit classrooms every Thursday around 10:20am for Ice Dawg sales. Please have your toonies ready!

Funds raised will support the grade 8 graduation.
